Description:

 Folk art is the art produced by self-taught people. Every culture has its share of folk artists, yet art historians often deny folk art its rightful place alongside fine art. Ms. LaFate, a Jamaican born, prize-winning folk artist, addresses this issue and explores the concepts of folk art and culture. The Kids Acting Academy is an engaging acting series for kids where imagination and creativity come to life! Young actors explore a classic fairy tale, diving into its characters, plot, and magical world. They learn acting techniques, teamwork, and stagecraft, while getting to know their roles. The series builds to a thrilling finale—where the kids perform a live, fully staged production of the fairy tale they've voted on, complete with costumes, props, and set design at the library. It's a fun, educational journey that shows how teamwork, creativity, and practice can transform a story into an unforgettable performance!

*Homeschoolers ages 8 and up invited to attend. Must be able to attend most sessions to act in final show.*
