Free Summer Getaway

Kent Sussex Community Services wants to help families understand and reduce the risks for future problems with alcohol and drugs by offering fun and informative trainings. Each family that successfully completes the training session on July 29th from 10AM-3PM at the library will be given a family day of fun at Sight and Sound Theater which includes ticket to show and free coach transportation.  Registration is required.  To register, contact Dupree Johnson at or call 302-535-1969.

Join us for Nutritious, Quick, and FlavorFULL Cooking where you’ll learn to prepare fun, easy and healthy dishes but also ways to find healthy recipes and other information.  Chef Bonnie will present the cooking demonstrations followed by a presentation for Adult Services Librarian Gregg on information searching.  Registration is required and will be available soon.  Attendance at all three sessions – Tuesdays, September 12, 19, and 26, 12:00-2:00pm – is expected from those who register.

A Voyage to Health

The Laurel Public Library is hosting the exhibit A Voyage to Health for six weeks beginning Monday, July 3.  A Voyage to Health presents information on Kaho’olawe, Hawaiian for traditional voyaging.  The exhibit explains the importance of Kaho’olawe in Native Hawaiian culture and the importance of learning about and preserving the culture, including the voyaging tradition.  This exhibition is brought to you by the National Library of Medicine.
