A Voyage to Health

The Laurel Public Library is hosting the exhibit A Voyage to Health for six weeks beginning Monday, July 3.  A Voyage to Health presents information on Kaho’olawe, Hawaiian for traditional voyaging.  The exhibit explains the importance of Kaho’olawe in Native Hawaiian culture and the importance of learning about and preserving the culture, including the voyaging tradition.  This exhibition is brought to you by the National Library of Medicine.

Creek Freaks Educator Workshop

Educators, join us for a two-day workshop where you’ll be introduced to a basic overview of stream ecology by actively participating in classroom activities, outdoor experiences, and stream monitoring in the field. Enjoy a screening of a concert of Garifuna music singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter Aurelio Martinez on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00am.  The concert was filmed in October 2015 and is made possible through the Lincoln Center On Screen program.
